Renowned Handbell Ensemble Performing in Eagan on May 5

Strikepoint, a handbell choir from Duluth, has scheduled an appearance at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

Editor's Note: The following is a press release from Strikepoint Handbell Ensemble. Strikepoint, one of the world’s top handbell ensembles, will perform at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church (3930 Rahn Rd.) in Eagan. Admission is free but a $10 donation is suggested. Think of a handbell ensemble as a living piano, with each of eleven ringers responsible for up to nine notes. Audience members will see musical lines moving as chords move up from the bass or the highest bells join in on the melody. Treble ringers may hold as many as six bells in their hands at one time, while bass ringers use their whole bodies to move 13-pound bronze bells with grace and finesse. Eagan High School graduate Nicholas David, who took third place on "The Voice" in 2012, returned to his alma mater for a pep fest performance on Thursday.

Crotty wasn't the only student wowed by the musician's afternoon performance during the performance, which took place during the high school's pep fest event. Hundreds of students packed the gymnasium floor to dance, shoot video with their smartphones and take in Nicholas' laid back vibe. The soulful singer, who took third place on the last season of NBC's hit musical competition "The Voice", grew up in Eagan and graduated from Eagan High School—where he played football and basketball. …

Mrozinski, who goes by the stage name Nicholas David on NBC's televised singing competition, will perform at 11 a.m. on the patio stage in Nickelodeon Universe, according to a report on KARE 11. The event is part of a 'welcome home' ceremony for David, a longtime Twin Cities resident who was voted into the Top 4 contestants on "The Voice" earlier this week. UPDATED: Minnesota Sinfonia Performance Postponed to July 15

Strong storms moving through the metro area last night delayed the performance.

The Minnesota Sinfonia will return to Caponi Art Park at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 for a Summer Pops Concert. Originally scheduled for Sunday, June 17, the concert was postponed because of poor weather. As part of the concert, craft supplies will be on hand before and during the performance for children and families to create a snaking community sculpture. The Summer Performance Series, presented by Crown Rental, is a family-friendly program that features a wide variety of music, theater and dance concerts presented free of charge on Sunday evenings in the Theater in the Woods outdoor amphitheater.
