Meanwhile, Minnesota continues adding jobs.
Dakota County posted a 5.2 percent seasonally-unadjusted jobless rate in February, down eight-tenths of 1 percent from the same month a year earlier, according to data released late last week by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The county's total workforce was 232,614 with 220,460 people employed and 12,154 unemployed. Monte Hanson, a DEED spokesman, said recently, "Seasonally unadjusted unemployment numbers tend to jump in January and February because of cold weather (affecting construction and other outdoor jobs) and because of post-Christmas retail layoffs. Construction delays have pushed back the launch of the rapid transit route, which was originally slated to open up in November 2012, according to a report in the Star Tribune. While the route, known as the Red Line, still needs approval from the Metropolitan Council to begin running, Dakota County, the Met Council and the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority have all recommended the June 22 start date, the Star Tribune reported. Cedar Avenue is one of the most traveled roads in Dakota County, according to county officials, with approximately 100,000 vehicles traveling it daily. That …
