The Lightning performed a piece called “Bolero” to win the high kick title. It was the seventh overall title for Eastview, winning previously in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012. Brainerd was second in the high kick competition, followed by Burnsville, Wayzata, St. Cloud Tech and Maple Grove. The Wildcats were one of 47 teams competing atthe state dance tournament, which took place on Friday and Saturday at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Although Eagan High School wasn't among the top finishers at the state competition this weekend, the team placed third in High Kick and second in Jazz at the sections tournament earlier this year. According to results released by the Minnesota State High School League, the Trojet Dance Team of Wayzata won its fifth Class AAA title at the Jazz competition on Friday, with Maple Grove taking second place and Eastview taking third.
