These trainings are essential considering the department responds to approximately 150 vehicle accidents or fires each year. “This kind of training requires vehicles for crews to practice on,” says Pat Diloia, Assistant Fire Chief. “Sometimes local towing companies can supply cars, but we have an ongoing need.” Individuals interested in donating a vehicle can receive a tax credit. The department will provide a receipt for tax purposes and donated …

Those are some big numbers, and Minnesotans will get another chance to beat that mark on Nov. 15 as Give to the Max Day rolls around once again. Launched in 2009, Give to the Max Day is an annual opportunity for Minnesotans to donate to their favorite local, regional or statewide nonprofits at GiveMN's website. An unexpected project has helped at least 10 EHS families and counting.
The giving bug tends to be contagious during the holiday season, but for Eagan High School staff, it's something they've dedicated themselves to doing throughout the year. Faculty at Eagan High School has been collecting food, toiletries and money to give to families in need with students at the high school since September. Within no time at all, her work space was crowded with bags and bags of groceries. "It's amazing. A lot of people have donated," Lehmann…

Millions of dollars were donated to nonprofits and various organizations on Give to the Max Day Tuesday.
Organizations and charities all over Minnesota benefited from GiveMN's Give to the Max Day Nov. 16 and its message empowered thousands of people to donate this year. $10,041,021 was donated by 42,596 donors and $8 million was matched on Give to the Max Day. "My favorite part was at 10:24 p.m., when we crossed the mark of 40,000 donors. I was cautiously optimistic that we were going to meet the goal, but when it happened, I said, 'Minnesota, we did it!'" GiveMN's Executive Director Dana Nelson said. One change that took place this year was that GiveMN did not match the donations. However, according to Nelson, there was $400 million in matching funds available, which is up from last year. "There is still over $1 million available in …
