Eagan High School Students Collect Thousands of Food Items During Six-Day Drive

The high school kicked off the food drive last week in honor of Food Share Month.

A six-day food drive at Eagan High School brought in 2,250 food items and $4,500 in donations, according to food drive coordinator Jane Lee. Eagan students kicked off the food drive last week in honor of Food Share Month. As part of the drive, the school's 100 homerooms were divided into 25 teams, which competed in a day-to-day competition. Participants were asked to bring food products centered around daily themes; last Thursday, for example was designated "Veggie Tales" day, and students collected vegetables to match the theme. The winning team will receive breakfast sponsored by the high school's student government, which organized the drive. Mark Your Calendars for Eagan's Empty Bowls Fundraiser

The Eagan & Lakeville Resource Center will host its fourth annual Empty Bowls event on March 21.

Become a 'souper supporter' of the Eagan & Lakeville Resource Centers when you attend the organization's fourth annual Empty Bowls fundraising event on March 21. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagan. This unique fundraiser pairs handmade art with hunger relief; each year local potters craft and donate hundreds of handmade clay bowls for the event. Attentdees at the event select one of those handmade bowl, make a suggested donation toward hunger relief, enjoy soup and bread provided by a handful of local restaurants, and leave with an “empty bowl” as a symbol of hunger in the community. Primrose Kindergarteners Donate 715 Pounds of Food to the Eagan Resource Center

Household chores paid off as local Primrose Kindergarten class raised $768.98 to donate 715 pound of food to help serve a holiday feast to Eagan area families.

Eagan YMCA Donates First Crop of Fresh Produce to Local Food Shelf

Earlier this year, the YMCA broke ground on a new community garden. That project is already bearing fruit—or should we say vegetables—for the Eagan and Lakeville Resource Centers.
