City officials will gather on Tuesday evening for a short ceremony to commemorate the opening of the park.

The 6.38-acre dog park, located within Thresher Fields Park in northeastern Eagan, features open spaces and lake access for parched pooches looking for a water break. The entire area is fenced in, and the park will include a separate area for smaller dogs. The city is believed to be the first in the state to pass a healthy eating and active living resolution.
From an extensive parks and trail system to fitness classes at the Eagan Community Center, the city of Eagan has long been a champion of healthy living, according to Laurie Halverson. And it's about time the city was recognized for its efforts, she believes. I hope Eagan does incorporate more art into public spaces. It reminds us of our connectedness, softens the concrete and glass city structures, and evokes emotional responses! My home town of Sioux Falls has sculpture on every street corner downtown. It's another reason I make sure I GO downtown when I visit family there.   more ›
