A tough three-game stretch did not end well for the Eagan girls hockey team, but the team is not hanging its collective head. Molly Sparks had a hat trick, but it wasn't enough Tuesday and the Wildcats fell 4-3 at Rosemount. Bre Steele added two assists. Eagan's girls varsity hockey team fell 2-5 to a Lakeville North team that is big, strong, well-disciplined and ranked #14 overall among Class AA high schools. Despite what seems like a lopsided scoreline, the Panthers seemed to have their hands full with a Wildcats team that, at times, matched their speed and technical prowess. The scoring began just four minutes into the first period, when sophomore center Ashley Kloncz scored for the Panthers. The offensive display continued six minutes later, when freshman Billi Larson scored again for the Panthers. After a shaky start to the season, the Eagan girls hockey team has roared to life as the Wildcats completed a sweep against Bloomington with an 8-1 defeat of Jefferson on Saturday night. Five days after thumping Kennedy 7-1, Eagan did one goal better against the Jaguars at the Bloomington Ice Gardens to improve to .500 on the season at 3-3 with a third-straight victory as forward Molly Sparks netted a hat trick. The Wildcats took a 6-0 lead after two periods with two goals from Sparks and one apiece from Sarah Jackson, Alyssa Markstrom, Crissy Economou and Bre Steele before Jefferson opened the third period with its lone tally of the contest. Wildcats girls basketball wins first of season, while girls hockey claims second-straight victory on Tuesday night.
It was a successful night for Eagan girls teams on both the basketball court and hockey rink as the Wildcats claimed victories over Minneapolis Roosevelt and Bloomington Kennedy on Tuesday evening. Girls Basketball The Eagan girls basketball team took a double-digit halftime lead against visiting Roosevelt and maintained the edge through the second half en route to a 70-60 victory at Eagan High School. Wildcats junior guard Jess Hart led all scorers with 26 points, with sophomore guard Sammie Delzotto chipping in with 14 points and junior forward Lindsey Gonsior adding 11 points in the victory. The Eagan girls hockey team, snakebit in its first three contests of the season, finally claimed its first victory of the year as forward Megan Wolfe's overtime goal sent the Wildcats to a 4-3 victory over Henry Sibley at the West St. Paul Ice Arena on Saturday night. Eagan girls hockey team falls to 0-3 with loss at Eastview.
The Eagan girls hockey team fell to 0-3 on the young season following a 2-1 loss to Eastview at the Apple Valley Sports Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 23. After allowing a first period goal to the host Lightning, the Wildcats went down 2-1. Eastview added a tally midway through the third period as Eagan appeared on its way to a second-consecutive shutout loss despite outshooting the Lightning nearly 2-to-1 on the night. However, a late goal by defender Megan Juricko, scored with just 13 seconds left in the game and assisted by forward Molly Sparks and defender Crissy Economou, got the Wildcats on the board before the final horn. Wildcats girls hockey team drops to 0-2 after 3-0 loss to Wolfpack.
The Eagan girls hockey team fell to 0-2 on the season following a 3-0 loss to Park of Cottage Grove in the Wildcats home opener on Saturday, Nov. 20. The visiting Wolfpack recorded one goal in each period while holding the Wildcats scoreless as Park goaltender Allie Morse turned aside all 26 Eagan shots to earn her team its first victory of the year. Wildcats goalie Emily Oltrogge made 19 saves in defeat. Junior forward Bre Steele led Eagan in shots with 11 attempts on the Park net, while eighth grader Rachel Wall fired nine shots on Morse.
