Eagan Council Issues Stern Warning to Granite City Brewery

The Eagan restaurant and brewery has failed four alcohol compliance checks in the last three years and is currently serving a 30-day suspension.

But the council issued a stern admonition to the business during a Tuesday night hearing. "I don’t take these things lightly. I have a huge issue with serving and selling alcohol to minors," Eagan City Councilor Cyndee Fields said during the council meeting on Tuesday. "If it happens again, I will go the full distance on this." Granite City sold alcohol to minors during police compliance checks conducted on Dec. 21, 2009; July 5, 2010; and October 24, 2012. The …

Hey Mary~ Eagan police conduct citywide alcohol compliance checks on an annual basis, and in 2012 they visited 70 businesses. Eight of those businesses failed their compliance checks. I think it's safe to say that Granite City has attracted more attention than those other businesses because it failed four compliance checks in a three-year period. Sample wines and beers while listening to jazz music and contributing to a good cause.

The Eagan Foundation invites area residents and employees to its 11th annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction on April 19, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Eagan Community Center, 1501 Central Parkway, Eagan. Join neighbors, friends, and business associates in support of the Eagan community and our students. The event will feature samplings of a variety of wines from the Kowalski's Wine Shop.
