The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the victim of Friday morning's fatal crash as Taya N. Clifford, of Eagan.

Taya N. Clifford, of Eagan, was driving a 2007 Mazda passenger car on Hwy. 13 in Eagan when her vehicle was struck by a Dodge Caravan driven by 53-year-old Michael A. Klasen of St. Paul, according to the state patrol. The Pioneer Press reports that Clifford lost control of her vehicle, which spun into oncoming traffic and was broadsided by Klasen's van. You may want to plan for some detours overnight next week as the ramps at Hwy. 77 and Hwy. 13 will close. Beginning 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 southbound Hwy. 77 will have the right lane closed between the Minnesota River Bridge and 13. Along with this lane closure the ramp to westbound Hwy. 13 will also close for paving. On Wednesday night, the eastbound 13 ramp to southbound 77 will close at 7 p.m. Make sure to follow the signed detour using County Road 30/Diffley Road. State officials are spending $11.4 million to rehabilitate a long stretch of Hwy. 13 this year.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed Hwy. 13 in Eagan between Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road through June 22. The closure is part of a larger resurfacing project stretching from Burnsville to West St. Paul. State officials will spend $11.4 million to rehabilitate a long stretch of Hwy. 13, with an anticipated completion date of Aug. 31. Once completed, Highway 13 will boast a smoother, longer-lasting asphalt surface, new pedestrian crossings that are handicapped-accessible, new curb and gutter and better drainage. Once completed, Highway 13 will boast a smoother, longer-lasting asphalt surface, new pedestrian crossings that are handicapped-accessible, new curb and gutter, and better drainage. The project is expected to cost $11.4 million in state and federal funds. The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to repave 13 miles of the highway, stretching from Burnsville to West St. Paul, according to a report in the Star Tribune. The condition of the road is poor, according to state and local officials. The project is schedule to begin in May and must be completed no later than Aug. 31, according to the Star Tribune. All three communities along the route—Burnsville, Eagan and Mendota Heights—are working with MnDOT to mitigate the disruption to residents and businesses along the stretch.
