Weekend Planner: Last Chance to See MOA's Ice Castle

Eagan residents better act fast if they want to enjoy the majestic, 40-foot high ice castle currently in Mall of America's north parking lot.

This winter, Mall of America built an elaborate castle of ice using 4 million gallons of water and Minnesota's legedary cold to construct a network of arches, tunnels, and caverns. The castle is 40 feet tall, contains 50 towers and covers over an acre of space in the mall's north parking lot. At night, the castle is lit by thousands of multi-colored LED lights, adding to the beauty. The ice castle takes approximately 20-30 minutes to walk through, and mall officials recommend that visitors dress warmly with scarves, mittens, boots, heavy coats and other winter gear. …

Minnesota Sales Tax Proposal Draws Fire from GOP, Mall of America

Burnsville Sen. Dan Hall called recent bills to expand the sales tax to clothing and digital purchases "disappointing."

Follow Eagan Patch on Twitter | Like us on Facebook | Sign up for our daily newsletter | Blog for us The battle over the budget got an early start this past week when Sen. Ann Rest (DFL) introduced bills that would lift the sale tax exemption on clothing and expand it into online retailing—specifically media downloads like music, movies and TV shows. With DFL majorities in both houses of the legislature and the governor's mansion, the bills are likely to pass, though that hasn't precluded some grumbling from the greatly diminished Republican contingent.  "With the current state of the economy, it's disappointing to see tax increases proposed and anticipated," Burnsville Sen. Dan Hall (R) wrote in his weekly legislative update. "This is not…

Nick is extremely talented and it’s nice to see someone as unique as him be recognized for his voice. No one would have guessed that this soulful voice rested in him but I’m glad that he’s out there now. I’ve always got my DISH Hopper set to record the show when it airs. The Hopper has the PrimeTime Anytime feature and it automatically records everything on the big four networks so I don’t have …   more ›

Nick was absolutely terrific. He was gracious and awe inspiring. He is a class act. On the other hand, the mayor of Eagan, Mark Maquire, is a total knob. He butchered Nick's name (on three separate occasions), Polly Reikowski's' name, and made some super lame jokes. Have some respect for the fans of Nick and to Eagan in general. You have a lot of great publicity directed at Eagan and you blew it.   more ›
