Wolfe is a senior at Eagan High School and a standout forward on the girls hockey team.

On Monday, the Pioneer Press named Wolfe, a forward on the Wildcats hockey team, its "Player of the Year". Wolfe, who has 136 goals and 129 assists in her five-year varsity career, started playing hockey when she was 4 years old. This year, she also represented the United States at the International Ice Hockey Federation's U18 women's world championship. Wolfe will lead the Eagan girls hockey team to its eighth state tournament beginning on Thursday, when the team squares off against Hill-Murray at the Xcel Energy Center.

After disappointing season last year, the Wildcats have worked hard to ensure this season ends differently.
A disappointing 2010-2011 season left a bad taste with the Eagan girls’ hockey team. After being ousted in the first round of section play last year, the Wildcats focused on this season and a shot at redemption. “We were disappointed last year,” said co-head coach Scott Darwitz. “We wound up fifth in the South Suburban Conference (SSC) and got knocked out in the first round of playoffs. Our goal this year was to get our respectability back a little bit, cause last year, we had a good team, but we just didn’t get there.” After putting in some hard work during the off-season, the Wildcats come down the home stretch of the 2011-2012 season in contention for a conference title and feeling as though they’re ready to make a run at a state …

Alanna Stangl scores game-winner in overtime against Park of Cottage Grove.
The Eagan girls’ hockey team improved to 4-0 on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime victory against Park of Cottage Grove. Alanna Stangl scored the game-winner with 48 seconds remaining in overtime. Alyssa Markstrom recorded an assist on the goal. Park of Cottage Grove’s Caitlin Quinn found the net less than a minute into the first period to give the Wolfpack a quick 1-0 lead. Eagan’s Emily Johannes and Megan Wolfe scored goals in the second period to put the Wildcats up 2-1 before Quinn added another goal for the Wolfpack to tie it up. Quinn’s second goal also came in the second period. Eagan next plays at Bloomington Jefferson on Tuesday, Nov. 29 to open their South Suburban Conference schedule.

Wildcats off to 3-0 start, down East Ridge 6-0.
Megan Wolfe recorded her second hat trick in three games to help propel the Eagan Wildcats girls’ hockey team to a 6-0 victory over East Ridge on Thursday night. Eagan is now 3-0 on the year and has outscored its opponents 15-3 over the first three games. The Wildcats got off to a fast start when Sarah Jackson scored just 24 seconds into the game. Wolfe added two first-period goals to go along with goals by Alyssa Markstrom and Olivia Asta to give the Wildcats a commanding 5-0 lead after one period of play. The fast 3-0 start to the year also includes a 6-1 opening night victory over Henry Sibley and a hard-fought 3-2 win over Eden Prairie.
