The Minnesota Vikings will form a 20-member cheerleading squad from 52 candidates.
Two women from Eagan are among the candidates vying for spots on the 2013 Minnesota Vikings cheerleader roster. The Vikings website, which identifies the cheerleader candidates only by their first names and first initials of their last names, is asking visitors to vote for candidates to determine who will make the team. Eagan residents Kristen O and Kelly D are candidates No. 16 and No. 44 of 52 candidates looking for a spot on the 20-woman team. Voting ends at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Izaac Gingerich, a Northview Elementary student, was one of 60 youth leaders chosen by the Midwest Dairy Council to take the field before a Minnesota Vikings game on December 9. Gingerich was accompanied by his program advisor, Sue Salter. On Dec. 27, members of the Minnesota Vikings teamed up with Eagan-based nonprofit Cheerful Givers to assemble 200 toy-filled birthday gift bags for less fortunate children in the area. Players Andrew Sendejo, D’Aundrae Reed, John Sullivan, Tyrone McKenzie and Vikings Mascot Viktor, along with other Vikings officials, invited Cheerful Givers volunteers to a birthday bag event held at the Vikings' Winter Park facility. Cheerful Givers also received a $1,000 grant from the Vikings Children’s Fund. On Oct. 23, the Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings, 33-27. Three weeks and one day later, the teams will face each other again during Monday Night Football.
