Free Movies for Moms at Great Clips IMAX Theatre on Mother's Day Weekend

Mothers get complimentary admission with the purchase of another regularly-priced ticket.

Moms get in free at the Great Clips IMAX Theatre at the Minnesota Zoo on May 11 and May 12 in honor of Mother's Day weekend. Mothers get complimentary admission with the purchase of another regularly-priced ticket, according to a news release issued by the Minnesota Zoo. "Iron Man 3: 3D" and "Kenya 3D: Animal Kingdom" will be showing that weekend. Show times on Saturday and Sunday are as follows:

Masin, Morgan Push for $15 Million Investment in Minnesota Zoo

A proposal to appropriate $15,000,000 for improvements to the Minnesota Zoo has the support of Rep. Sandra Masin (51A, DFL). Masin is listed as a co-author on HF 928, authored by District 56B Rep. Will Morgan (DFL). Under the bill's provisions, the money would be used to improve the infrastructure and exhibits at the zoo. In other political news from around the southeast metro: Rep. David Bly (20B, DFL) believes the food and agricultural systems in Minnesota are in need of improvement, which is why Bly authored HF 874, which would establish a 20-member Minnesota Food Council responsible for communication, research and reporting of policy recommendations to improve the food system in Minnesota, with a special eye toward sustainability. …

Mel Gibson Makes Appearance at Minnesota Zoo

Reports say controversial actor Mel Gibson has been sightseeing in the Twin Cities the past few days. One of those stops was at Apple Valley’s Minnesota Zoo.

For instance, as of 9:30 p.m. Sunday, a photo of Gibson posted on the zoo’s Facebook page had collected 989 “likes” and 81 comments. Some of those comments can’t be described as Minnesota Nice. Dakota Electric Customers: Get Free Admission to Minnesota Zoo July 26

Dakota Electric members are encouraged to bring donations for local food shelves if they attend the free evening at the zoo.

  Dakota Electric Association customers and their families can be admitted to the Minnesota Zoo for free from 4 to 8 p.m. July 26 for Dakota Electric's 15th-annual member-appreciation event. Tickets to the event were included in electric bills, or those who purchase electricity from the cooperative can bring a copy of a recent bill to the zoo to receive free entry into the member-only event, according to a press release. Attendees will be able to enjoy the zoo’s many exhibits, including Penguins of the African Coast, Russia’s Grizzly Coast, the Minnesota Trail, World of Birds Show, free monorail rides and more.
