Caponi Art Park Awarded $10,000 Grant from Metropolitan Regional Arts Council

The money will help fund the art park's 2013 Summer Performance Series.

The art park received a $10,000 grant to help fund the park's 2013 Summer Performance Series, which includes performances from the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Dakota Valley Summer Pops Orchestra and Chorale and other groups. The free performance series will be held at Caponi Art Park from June through August 2013. Caponi Art Park wasn't the only local organization to get a grant from the arts council. Follow Eagan Patch on Twitter | Like us on Facebook | Sign up for our daily newsletter Taiko drumming group "Mu Daiko" drew plenty of wide-eyed stares from its young audience on Tuesday afternoon during an hour-long performance Tuesday morning at Caponi Art Park in Eagan. The musical group performed in the park's Sculpture Garden as part of Caponi Art Park's Summer Performance Series. Taiko drumming—an ancient Japanese art form—is derived from traditional drumming and martial arts-inspired movement. The word 'taiko' is Japanese for 'big drum.'

Shakespeare On Stage This Weekend at Caponi Art Park

The performance is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24.

As part of the park's Summer Performance Series, the Cromulent Shakespeare Company will present "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 at the Theater in the Woods on park grounds. Attendance is free, with a $5 suggested donation to support the program.  Falstaff, a poor knight and a character in the play, looks to seduce two wives of wealthy men in England. Unfortunately for Falstaff, the two wives discover his plan and with their adoring husbands devise a plan to embarrass Falstaff. As this is going on, one of the mistresses daughters, Anne, is courted …
