Homeless Youth Act Will 'Change Lives,' Halverson Says
Eagan Rep. Laurie Halverson (DFL) introduced a bill on Tuesday appropriating $8 million in state funding to battle youth homelessness in Minnesota.

Laurie Halverson (DFL) introduced the Homeless Youth Act on Tuesday during a packed press conference at the Minnesota State Capitol. The proposed bill, which was referred to the Early Childhood and Youth Development Policy Committee, would appropriate $8 million over the next biennium for the fight against homelessness among Minnesota youth. The money, which would be taken from the state's general fund, could be used to assist homeless youth in obtaining food, medical care, counseling, education, training and a variety of other services. Laurie, Again a hearty thank you for the work you are doing. Homeless youth are even more hidden from view than the adults. We are fortunate in Eagan to have Lincoln Place but it only has 24 units for homeless youth. I am sure that is but a dent in the problem.   more ›
