Laura Osnes 'Cinderella' Run Ends in January

The Eagan High School alum and Burnsville native was nominated for the Tony Award for her role in the musical.

Laura Osnes will say farewell to her role as Cinderella in "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" at the end of January 2014, according to Bring Me the News. Carly Rae Jepsen, known for the single "Call Me Maybe" will replace Osnes beginning Feb. 4 and will fill the role for 12 weeks.

Osnes was born in Burnsville and graduated from Eagan High School, where she participated in 15 productions. She got her start in theater at the Giant Step Theatre in Apple Valley, Patch reported.

She was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as a Cinderella, a part that she began to play in March of this year. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her role as Bonnie Parker in "Bonnie and Clyde."

Osnes became a spokeswoman for the Hennepin Theatre Trust SpotLight Musical Theatre Program last month, according to Bring Me the News. She will return to Minnesota to work with program participants when her time with the "Cinderella" production ends.
