Burglar Walks In and Out of Eagan Home Without a Word: Police Blotter

In other reports, a woman forgot to tell police about marijuana in the car and someone stole diamond rings and Coach purses from a garage.

The information below is taken from Eagan Police Department reports. This is not the complete report.

A man walked into a home on the 4100 block of Durham Court while the residents were home, according to the Eagan Police report. When the man saw the residents he left the home “without saying a word,” and he had one hand in his pocket.

One of residents in the home drove around the area looking for the suspect while the other resident followed the man outside, but lost sight of him.

Police found the suspect and he was arrested for first-degree burglary and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

The incident was reported at 8:26 a.m. on Nov. 4.

Nov. 4

11:27 a.m. - A guest at Hampton Inn reported that someone had drilled a hole into the gas tank of his vehicle. He said that the vandalism had occurred between Sept. 25 and Oct. 25. The gas tank was repaired.

1:49 p.m. - A truck hit a car on I-35E and Lone Oak Road. The car flipped to its side. Two people were injured and had to be extricated from the car.

Nov. 5

5:17 p.m. - A woman was cited for shoplifting almost $300 in merchandise from Kohls in Eagan. Her child was with her at the time of the incident.

6:21 p.m. - A white cat was found and impounded on the 1700 block of Serpentine Drive.

11:56 p.m. - A woman told police that she forgot to tell the officer about the marijuana that was found in the vehicle. The woman and a man, who was also in the vehicle, denied that they knew about the meth that police found. Both were arrested for fifth-degree possession of meth and a small amount of marijuana. The incident occurred at the 3600 block of Denmark Avenue.

Nov. 6

9:20 p.m. - Someone stole two totes from a garage in Eagan that contained some memorable and some valuable items: Christmas ornaments, Coach purses and three diamond rings. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of Spruce Point.

10:29 a.m. - A resident reported damage to a fence on the 4100 block of Arbor Lane. Someone had driven across the yard and through a fence located along Wenzel Avenue.

11:02 a.m. - A vehicle was possibly stolen from the 3900 block of Cedar Grove Parkway. The driver of the vehicle had left his keys and phone inside it. His girlfriend had just bought the vehicle the week before.

12:30 p.m. - A man tried to steal shoes from a store on Town Centre Drive by switching his own shoes for new black Nike shoes. He was later arrested and cited for theft and driving with a suspended driver’s license.

1:22 p.m. - Walmart reported receiving $400 in counterfeit bills on three different days.

2:48 p.m. - Two brothers argued over property that had been moved from the garage to the driveway. One brother reportedly threatened to destroy property and kill his brother’s cats. The incident occurred on the 2000 block of Emerald Lane.

4:03 p.m. - Pornographic images were painted on a retaining wall at James Street and Cedar Avenue. City maintenance has been notified.
