Making Dancing Fun at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Eagan

The owners decided to move their studio to Eagan so that it would be more centrally located for their clients.

Chad and Joanna Lessard, married couple and the owners of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Eagan, have years of dance experience.

Chad Lessard has instructed dance for almost 20 years, he said, and he opened his first dance studio in 2004. Joanna Lessard began ballroom dancing in 1994 and began teaching dance after graduating from college, according to her profile on the Fred Astaire website.

The Fred Astaire teaching method, explained Chad Lessard, says that "there are four basic elements of dancing and if you learn those elements, you can learn any dance that's out there."

Learning the basics of dancing can also mean having more fun during any type of dance, Chad Lessard added.

During the studio's grand opening celebration, attendees will have the opportunity to experience 20 minutes of a beginner's class at the top of each hour. There will also be professional dance demonstrations and a live band for more dancing.

The grand opening is on Friday, Nov. 15 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will include food, drinks and door prizes. Register for the free event online or by calling 651-451-6300.
