Parent-Hosted Event Helps You Learn About Online Public School in A Casual Setting
MTS Minnesota Connections Academy
invites prospective parents to learn about its tuition-free K-12 online public school program at a free parent-to-parent information session Thursday, May 15, from 6:30-7:30pm, at Panera Bread, 1260 Promenade Pl., in Eagan.
Hosted by an MTS Minnesota Connections Academy parent, families can explore the school's individualized learning approach, curriculum, technology-enhanced learning environment, and learn about the enrollment process, all in a casual setting. Other topics covered include: how teachers interact with students in the virtual environment, personalized learning opportunities including options for accelerated learning and gifted programs, college preparation, socialization, the role of the parent or other learning coach and the use of technology. Families unable to attend are encouraged to attend a real-time, virtual information session. Minnesota Connections Academy meets the needs of students and their families who are looking for an alternative to a traditional school setting— those who need a flexible schedule, learn at a different pace from their peers (ahead or behind), need more individualized attention or seek a learning environment outside of a traditional classroom. The school is also a fit for those who live in isolated rural settings, homebound students and previously home-schooled children.
