Friends of the Wescott Library Prepare For Book Sale All Year

The book sale organizer said that they start the sale with thousands of books.

The Friends of the Wescott Library prepare for the book sale throughout the year, said Kay Welnecke, who organizes the sale.

The group accepts book donations from residents who drop off books with Wescott librarians. They also receive donations from the library.

Throughout the year, a group of dedicated volunteers sorts books into categories, such as non-fiction, mystery, children, science fiction and many more, Welnecke said.

When the time of the book sale arrives, they can have everything set up in a little under a week.

Welnecke said she thought they usually start with about 20,000 books on sale. The books cover the tables, including underneath the tables, and in side rooms. As books leave the tables, volunteers bring out more.

The fall sale continues at the library through Sunday.

In addition to the fall sale, the Friends of the Wescott Library also run a book sale during the year near Dewey's Cafe, which is located in the library.

Another book sale occurs in the spring.
