Military Statue Unveiled

"Our prayers were really answered," said Margo Danner of the Eagan Lioness Club, which helped make the tribute and memorial plaza happen.

A tribute and memorial plaza, given $100,000 in funding from the state Legislature, was completed at Eagan's July 4th Funfest on Sunday afternoon.

"We've completed our dream made this tribute a reality," said Margo Danner, past president of the Eagan Lioness Club, and one of the leading people who made the plaza happen.

The plaza includes three statues, the third of which was unveiled Sunday at the annual festival, which is expected to draw more than 20,000 people over the weekend. The first two statues are of a police man and a fire man, and the third is a military statue.

The first two statues were dedicated in October 2010, when Eagan celebrated its 150th birthday. The third piece was shown to a crowd on a sunny day over the holiday weekend.

"Our prayers were really answered," said Danner, who as past president of the Eagan Lioness Club thought Eagan needed a plaza like this to recognize police, fire and veterans.
