PHOTOS: Eagan High Singers Show Their Talents and Range in Showcase Concert

Eagan High School soloists and six choirs shined in a pair of concerts Monday evening

Eagan High School's talented singing groups left their audiences wanting more as the school's choirs put on a pair of performances in the Showcase Vocal Concert Monday evening at Eagan High School.

The younger Cavaliers and Choraliers performed in the 6 p.m. show, while the Men's Chorale and Women's Chorale held forth in the 7:30 p.m. performance. Both concerts featured several Masterclass soloists and honorable mention singers, as well as Bel Canto and the Concert Choir.

Soloists Jessica Swanson, Nicole Moran, Emily Sonneborn, Pearce Olson and Jelly Lokensgard were among the featured performers.

"I'm always pretty nervous," said Olson. "This is only my second year of choir so it's still relatively new to me. The nerves are kind of getting out of the way, which is nice."

Olson also sang in the concert choir and VOX, the men's group.

"The most fun is the VOX, the men's group," he said. "Because you're with a bunch of your friends and there's 10 guys and you're all striving for the best goal. You get to sing really fun, hip music and there's usually a driving baseline and something, and it's really light and just fun."

The Monday concerts featured a diverse body of works, ranging from Mozart and Aaron Copeland to Minnesota, Irish, Italian and Hebrew music.

Upcoming vocal and instrumental events for Eagan High School include a late winter band concert March 15, "Just Desserts" VOX, cache and Bnatural on March 16 and a jazz band concert March 17. The ISD 196 Vocal Solo and Ensemble Festival will be held April 9 at Rosemount High School.
