Daycare Coming to Rahncliff Court Strip Mall?

A five-classroom childcare facility may soon be relocating to the strip mall along Rahncliff Court in southern Eagan—if the Eagan City Council approves a development plan amendment.

Day By Day Childcare, currently located in a strip mall at 4130 Blackhawk Road, wants to occupy a roughly 5,000 square foot space in the Rahncliff Court retail center, according to planning report filed by the city. The proposed school consists of five classrooms and a common indoor play area, restrooms, a kitchen and even a 1,738 square foot outdoor play area.

The Eagan Planning Commission is scheduled to review the daycare center's proposal at its meeting on Dec. 27. If the project receives a recommendation from the Planning Commission, it will proceed to the Eagan City Council for final approval.

The property is currently zoned for planned development. In order for the daycare to locate in the space, the council must approve an amendment to the planned development.

The proposed location is nearly 300 square feet larger than Day By Day Childcare's current facility, and will allow the center to have a dedicated onsite office and reception, plus more storage and space for a gym, according to the planning report. The center would serve infants through pre-kindergarten children.
