Eagan Mom, Young Child Separated During Flight Due to Delta Policies

After being forced to spend 45 minutes of a Delta Air Lines flight separated from her young child, an Eagan Mom is angry about how the airline treated the two of them.

An Eagan mom and her 6-year-old son were forced to sit in different parts of the plane on their recent Delta Air Lines flight to Disney World, according to a KARE-11 report.

Single mom Jennifer DeYoung of Eagan booked the flight through Orbitz for both her son Avery and herself, but when they checked in at the airport they found out they were assigned seats in different parts of the plane.

Things didn't get any better after they boarded. DeYoung said flight attendants were rude and suggested she take another flight the following day, and that's when she started crying.

About 45 minutes into the flight, a passenger in the back of the plane offered up a seat so the mother and son could sit together, but DeYoung is still angry. She blames the airline's policy of charging an additional fee for window and aisle seats for the situation.

From the KARE-11 News segment:

"If I were to leave (Avery) out of my sight anywhere else for 45 minutes, it would almost be neglect and you never know who is sitting next to your child.

"A woman, actually, sitting the next row over offered to switch seats, so I could at least see him and the flight attendant said 'No, you (the other woman) paid for those seats, didn't you?'," said DeYoung.
