Eagan Tribute Memorial Joins Up With Umbria Pizza for Event

Stop in for free pizza and more information on how to donate to the Eagan Tribute Memorial.

The Eagan Tribute & Memorial Plaza is almost complete but fundraising continues for the Military bronze statue, which will stand with the police & fire statues at Central Park.

The memorial was built to honor our living and deceased military, police and fire personnel in Eagan, according to Margo Danner, co-chair of the Tribute Committee.

Danner said the Tribute still needs about $25,000 before it is completed.

in Eagan will be partnering with the Eagan Tribute and Memrial fundraising for an event on Saturday, Feb. 5.  Anyone and everyone is welcome to stop into Umbria for a free slice of pizza between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., meet new owner Craig Douden and pick up a pamphlet on how to donate to the Tribute. Douden said there will be three to four gourmet pizzas ready throughout the day, and also more original favorites such as pepperoni.

Concerning the partnership between the Tribute and Umbria, Douden said, "We [at Umbria] were looking for another community type-based organization, an Eagan-based nonprofit group, to partner with. It gives us a chance to introduce ourselves and for [the Tribute] to raise some donations."

Umbria is located at 1965 Cliff Lake Road, across from Cub and Target in the Cliff Lake Marketplace.

"[The Tribute Committee] will be on site to answer questions [Saturday]," Danner said. "This is new for Umbria and new for us. We really want to bring awareness to the public, and let them know about the Tribute Memorial...and give them a chance to donate to it."

The Tribute committee hopes to have the plaza finished by Memorial Day.  All donations, regardless of amount, will be acknowledged in the dedication material.  There are many different levels of giving and for those who donate $500 or more, the donor will receive an engraved paver on site. For information on how to make contributions, visit the Tribute's website: Eaganlionessmn.lionwap.org or call Margo Danner at 651-454-5688.
