Lunds and Byerly's Issues Voluntary Recall of Several Chicken Products

To date, there have been no reported or known illnesses related to the consumption of Lunds and Byerly's Chicken Kabobs, Marinated Chicken Breasts and Chicken Fast Food Meal Kits.

Lunds and Byerly's, with a location in Eagan, have issued a voluntary recall on certain chicken products.

"We have been informed of a possible food safety issue involving Listeria Monocytogenes in a recent supply of chicken we used to make select varieties of marinated chicken breasts, chicken kabobs and chicken meal kits," according to the notice on the Lunds and Byerly's website

"As a precautionary measure, we have removed these items until we are confident the potential issue is safely resolved. To date, there have been no reported or known illnesses related to the consumption of these products." 

The stores' staff has notified the Minnesota Department of Agriculture about this issue so they can conduct further follow-up with the supplier. 

All products included in this recall, according to the store, are noted below.

Lunds and Byerly’s Great Food Fast Meal Kits

  • Raspberry Chicken & Wild Rice

If you have purchased any of these products since Sept. 14, you can return them to any Lunds or Byerly’s for a full refund (receipt not required) or destroy them immediately. 

Staff noted that no other varieties of chicken in the stores are affected by this recall. 

"This food safety issue was discovered after we proactively had samples of this chicken tested by an independent, third-party lab during the development of a new line of prepared chicken offerings," according to the website. "This is an added preventative food safety measure we take any time we are developing a new perishable item."
