Sometimes a government shut-down is preferable!

One of the things we heard last summer was how messy and horrible the state government shut down was. It was stated as being unnecessary and punitive towards anyone who relies on the government or their services. As we see now, sometimes the "messy" part of the legislative process IS necessary, to prevent one party from running away with power and our money unchecked.
This current state legislature was so busy passing bills, they forgot to look at them before they voted! One example was a warehouse tax buried inside the last omnibus bill. Anyone could see this was a bad idea from a business and jobs standpoint. I don't think the legislators noticed it.  Slowing down and being thoughtful in the process is good, reversing the overreach would be even better.
On a positive note: Thanks to everyone who attended the SD 51 GOP Fun Fest booth over the 4th. We spoke with hundreds of local Eagan/Burnsville voters and supporters and you can feel the electricity!  Our local GOP is really gearing up for a big turn, a turn towards less government regulation, less tax burden, and more sensibility. Find us on Facebook and visit our website: SD51gop.com if you'd like to give us a hand!
