District 196 Levy Referendum Passes

Voters decided in favor of the the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District levy referendum.

The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District levy referendum passed with 66 percent of the vote.

The question asked voters to revoke the district’s current $20 million levy, which ends in 2016, and replace it with a new $30 million levy.

"We're definitely pleased," said Communications Director Tony Taschner.

They were happy to see that voters decided in favor of making an investment in the kids in the district, explained Taschner.

The passing of the levy means that the district can avoid budget cuts of $6 million and lessen the cuts that will need to be made in the following years.

Results are unofficial as they are not yet certified.
