Baseball & Birthdays -- Minnesota Twins & Wives Show Support of Cheerful Givers

Minnesota Twins and their wives showed  their support of local nonprofit, Cheerful Givers, by taking time after winning their baseball game on June 12th to assemble toy-filled birthday bags so that less fortunate parents can recognize their child's birthday with a gift.  Krista and Justin Morneau organized the efforts, and many team members as well as front-office personnel  got involved by donating items for the bags. This was the fifth year where players and wives included Cheerful Givers in their volunteer outreach.

The next joint effort will be a "Breakfast with the Minnesota Twins & Wives" on Saturday, July 20th at the Chart House Restaurant in Lakeville.  Guests will join Brian Duensing, Josh Willingham, Chris Parmelee and their families to raise funds for Cheerful Givers.  The breakfast includes a question-and-answer session with the players, live auction, and drawings for autographed Twins merchandise.  Tickets are available at http://cgbreakfast13.eventbrite.com.

Cheerful Givers has provided more than 600,000 disadvantaged children with birthday gifts since the organization began in 1994.  Their goal for 2013 is to reach another 150,000 kids.  To make that happen, they are looking for more organizations and individuals who want to support this cause.  www.cheerfulgivers.org or contact karen@cheerfulgivers.org
