BLOG: Growing Food for Those in Need—Kick Off March 1st

If you have an interest in gardening and would like to grow fresh food for your local food shelves, then Mission Gardening is for you!

Are you a seasoned gardener who is dreaming about dirt and seedlings? Spending sunny afternoons perusing seed catalogues? Are you a new gardener and want to get involved? The Eagan and Lakeville Resource Center food shelves invite gardeners like you to their Garden To Table Mission Gardener Kick Off on Thursday, March 1st from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 3930 Rahn Road in Eagan.

If you have an interest in gardening, whether at home, church, organization or business, and would like to grow fresh food for your local food shelves, then this event is for you! Enjoy a great meal with others who have a LOVE for gardening and helping those in need. Ask questions and learn best practices of other Mission Gardeners who are planting and harvesting food for the Eagan and Lakeville Resource Centers (ELRC). Hear from ELRC about what to grow, how to transport, when/where to deliver, etc. Brainstorm about how we can reach our goal of growing 35,000 pounds of fresh produce for families in need of food support in 2012! A Master Gardener will be on hand to answer any questions.

Don't miss out!  RSVP to Lisa Horn, Executive Director, by email lisahorn@eaganrc.org or call 651-605-2881 and leave a message with your organization name, your name/email/phone and the names of other attendees. For more information, visit www.eaganrc.org.
