Thank you to Tribute & Memorial Plaza Contributors

The Tribute & Memorial Plaza in Eagan's Central Park is now complete with it's final bronze statue, representing the armed forces.

The Tribute & Memorial Plaza in Eagan's Central Park is now complete with the final bronze statue representing our armed forces. This was dedicated on Sunday, July 3, Patriotic Day at Eagan's July 4th Funfest, before a large crowd. As co-chairs of the Tribute, Tom Mullon, with the Eagan American Legion, and I want to thank all those who attended and the participants who helped make this day and ceremony so meaningful.

Even though we still need to raise $7,000, the Tribute is finished and stands as a reminder of our Eagan Hometown Heroes. They are our public servants who serve & save, our Eagan police and volunteer firefighters and armed forces. With this Plaza we honor them, recognize them, remember them and say "Thank You" for their contributions to our community and country.

On behalf of Tom Mullon and myself, this was our last official act and have completed our dream that this would be a reality for the city of Eagan. We thank the many who saw the value of investing in heroes. If you haven't gotten around to donating, you can still do so by going online to the website, Eaganlionessmn.lionwap.org for details. We would be happy to add your name to the many who have already given and are listed on the website.

Donation may be made "In memory of" an individual.  Any donation of $500 or more will receive an engraved paver for the entrance to the Tribute site, where 40 have already been installed.

The circular Plaza exhibits flags in the center, depicting the three entities, along with inscribed granite monuments which divides the Plaza into three sections. The police officer stands with a small girl and is called "The Protector." The firefighter is in full Eagan equipment and looks like he just came from a fire. The Military statue, wearing fatigues, stands saluting our flag. His nametag is left blank, giving individuals  a chance to tape on their own name for picture taking opportunities.
