Spring hiking in Eagan's beautiful parks

After what seems like the longest winter ever, spring is everywhere around us. I am a year-long hiker at Patrick Eagan Park and Lebanon Hills, and each season has its own delights, but spring is very special. It's been challenging due to the high water over some of my favorite trails, but all the rain has made it incredibly green.

This weekend I saw my first fawn of the season. The doe was trying to get the fawn into the trees, but the fawn just had to stop and check out everything. The bucks have antler buds growing now. Baby bunnies and ducklings are starting to surface. My favorite waterfowl are back - great blue herons, green herons, great egrets, cormorants and of course the wood ducks and hooded mergansers.
