Blotter: Eagan Resident Returns Home, Surprises Burglars in His Garage

Eagan police responded to several burglary calls, according to the most recent police reports.

Jan. 10

4:41 a.m.—Police responded to a disturbing the peace call on the 1300 block of High Site Dr. The caller told police there was loud music and "banging" coming from a nearby apartment. Officers responded to the apartment, and cited two for underage consumption. One of the individuals cited registered a .036 blood-alcohol level on a preliminary breath test, while the other blew a .045.

Jan. 11

9:40 a.m.—Police responded to a suspicious person call on the 1300 block of High Site Drive. The caller told police he found a 16-year-old male dressed in black sleeping in the entryway of the business. The teenager told the caller that he got in an argument with his mom and had nowhere else to go.

10:55 a.m.—Police responded to an assault call at Thomas Lake Elementary School. The caller told police a fifth-grade student had attacked a teacher, and was now hiding in a box.

1:37 p.m.—Police responded to a burglary call on the 3800 block of Ballantrae Rd. The caller told police someone used a "slim jim" to break into her car. A make-up bag and server apron were stolen.

5:50 p.m.—Police responded to a burglary call on the 3100 block of Farnum Dr. The caller told police he returned home, opened his garage door and watched two people run out of his garage. Police were unable to find the burglars, but processed the scene for fingerprints. Approximately $500 in jewelry was taken from the home.

Jan. 12

5:02 p.m.—Police responded to a suspicious person call at a department store on the 1300 block of Town Centre Dr. The caller told police two suspects wearing baggy clothing stole $160 worth of items. The two men were cited for theft.

10:27 p.m.—Police responded to a disturbing the peace call on the 4500 block of Slater Rd. The reporting party told police there was an underage drinking party going on, and that individuals at the party were also using marijuana. Police cleared out the party, which was being hosted in the events room of an apartment complex, and cited one minor for consumption of alcohol. More than 200 people were in attendance at the party—which was hosted by an adult, who was throwing a birthday party for his daughter.

Jan. 13

3:59 a.m.—Police responded to a medical call on the 3500 block of Blue Jay Way. The caller told officers an intoxicated female had intentionally stabbed herself in the leg with a knife, and was bleeding profusely. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital.

10:13 p.m.—Police responded to a drunkenness call on the 4500 block of Cinnamon Ridge Dr. The caller told officers an intoxicated male kept knocking on the door and "talking crazy". Police spoke to the man, who told officers he was trying to find his son, who didn't live in the apartment complex anymore. Police took the man to detox.

Jan. 14

12:02 p.m.—Police responded to a burglary call on the 3800 block of Ballantrae Rd. The caller told police sunglasses and a GPS unit were taken from a locked car parked in an unlocked garage.

5:44 p.m.—Police responded to a damage to property call at Eagan High School. The caller told police someone shot a BB into his car windshield while the vehicle was parked at the high school.

10:11 p.m.—Police responded to a suspicious person call on the 3600 block of Robin Ln. The caller told police his home was broken into on Christmas Eve, and that on Jan. 14, two men knocked on his front door and asked for directions. The caller thought the men were "casing" his house and the neighborhood.
