Blotter: Police Called to Thomson Reuters on Reports of Man with Gun

Nov. 27

3:23 p.m.—Police responded to a theft call on the 3800 block of Alder Ln. The caller told police that she was the victim of multiple thefts over a long period of time, and that a suspect or suspects had taken jewelry, paintings, clothing and some Hummel figurines. The caller, an elderly female, may have been suffering from dementia.

Nov. 28

1:07 a.m.—Police responded to an assault call on the 3100 block of Coachman Rd. The reporting party, who was standing outside his apartment in his underwear, told police that his roommate tried to choke him and punched him numerous times. The victim said he fled outside as a result of the assault. Police transported one to jail on fifth-degree domestic assault charges.

8:27 a.m.—Police responded to a theft call at a business on the 1700 block of Yankee Doodle Rd. The caller told police someone had taken a semi trailer from the property.

12:28 p.m.—Police responded to a fight call at the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Alternative High School. The caller told police a fight had broken out in the lunch room. Police arrived and cited two students for disorderly conduct. The youth were released to their parents.

4:32 p.m.—Police responded to a theft call at Dakota Woodlands in Eagan. The reporting party told police a 15-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy stole their mom's car 30 minutes ago. Police listed both children as runaways and sent out alerts to Saint Paul, where officers believed the children may have fled.

Nov. 30

7:57 a.m.—Police responded to a burglary call at the DXP Supercenter on Lone Oak Road. The caller told police cash was taken from the till of the building.

11:02 a.m.—Police responded to the Thomson Reuters campus in Eagan on a report of an employee with a weapon. Police learned the employee was a temporary contractor who was on the last day of his contract. A witness told police the man at one point stated: "Hey, just so you know, I have my weapon on me today. It's in the holster." Investigators spoke with the man, who was indeed armed. However, the man had a permit to carry a handgun, and hadn't issued any specific threats against coworkers. Police escorted the man from the building for breaking Thomson Reuters' policies against bring weapons to the workplace.

1:25 p.m.—Police responded to a domestic call on the 1700 block of Woodgate Ln. The reporting party, a 13-year-old, told dispatch his or her father was going "crazy" and was trying to hit the victim with a belt.

4:27 p.m.—Police responded to the Target along Cliff Lake Road on reports of a shoplifter. Store employees, watching the juvenile on camera, saw him take jewelry, clothing items and CDs. The suspect then went to the bathroom, where he apparently removed the tags and packaging from the items. The suspect then fled from the store. He was apprehended at a nearby business and cited for misdemeanor theft and fleeing from officers on foot.
