Eagan Police Blotter: Aug. 4-6

A roundup of selected Eagan Police Department calls and arrests.

Aug. 4

-Police responded to a hit-and-run accident in the 1900 block of Rahncliff Court. The bumper of the victim’s car was damaged.

-A caller told police that his roommate threatened him with a gun in the 3000 block of Eagandale Place. When police arrived, the victim said his roommate had hit him with a chair, and that his ear and neck hurt. Police noted that the victim had marks on him, but it was unclear who started the argument; the parties were separated.

-A caller in the 4500 block of Ches Mar Drive told police that she was getting harassing calls on her cell phone, and she suspected it had something to do with work. Police requested an administrative subpoena to check on who was making the calls.

-A caller reported that a woman in the 2800 block of Highway 55 was in the bathroom and might have cut herself. The woman, who had a 2-year-old child with her, has a history of suicide attempts, according to her husband. Police found the woman with razor-blade cuts on her arm and took her to the hospital.

-A resident in the 2000 block of Park Center Drive reported that she was being threatened by a neighbor in her apartment complex.

-Police responded to a report in the 600 block of Opperman Drive of a possibly drunk woman. Police discovered outstanding warrants on the woman and arrested her.

-Police arrested a 64-year-old man in the 700 block of Cougar Drive on an outstanding drug-sales warrant.

-A caller in the 1200 block of Northwood Parkway told police that an employee who had been fired that afternoon was now threatening other employees via Facebook.

-Police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1300 block of Town Centre Drive. The loss prevention manager told police that the suspect had taken an electronic item and fled the store in a Jeep Liberty. The manager followed the suspect before losing them and heading back to the store. Police arrested a juvenile male for theft and on an outstanding warrant and also the Jeep’s driver for possession of drug paraphernalia.

-A caller in the 3400 block of Golfview Drive reported receiving harassing and threatening text messages.

-Police stopped a car at Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road and arrested one person for driving on a revoked license, and another for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Aug. 5

-A caller in the 4700 block of Weston Hills Drive told police that someone hit a trash can in front of the house and drove away with the can stuck to the front of the SUV. A 16-year-old boy was arrested for DUI, careless driving and a curfew violation; he was released to his mother.

-A caller reported a Dumpster on fire in the 4500 block of Scott Trail. Police were unable to determine whether the fire was accidental or intentional.

-A caller in the 3300 block of Terminal Drive reported that seven vehicles had been broken into and vandalized.

-Police responded to a bicycle-car accident at Mike Collins Drive and Yankee Doodle Road. Officers determined that the bicyclist failed to yield to the car; he suffered a leg injury but said he would go to a clinic on his own.

-The Holiday station in the 4500 block of Nicols Road reported a $15.08 gasoline drive-off.

-A caller reported an aggressive pit bull roaming in a park at Rahn Road and Shale Lane, telling police that the dog tried to attack him. The dog’s owner was cited for having a dog at large.

-A caller in the 1900 block of Covington Lane reported that his 19-year-old son was creating a disturbance and asked to have him removed from the home. The son went for a walk; the father told police that the son had been staying out late and hasn’t done exactly what he was told. The father also said his son has an academic scholarship to a university, but if his son can’t follow the rules, they won’t take him there.

-A caller in the 3800 block of Kennet Circle reported that her 11-year-old son was “out of control.” The child has “several disorders” and assaulted his mother with an electrical cord. Because the boy is too young for a juvenile detention center, police said he would be petitioned for domestic assault.

-A caller in the 1500 block of Stonewood Lane told police that her ex-husband has moved two of their three children to Wisconsin and won’t reveal his address, which the woman said isn’t allowed under their divorce decree. Police tried to reach the ex-husband on his cell phone without success, but said they would continue trying.

-Police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Hickory Hill Drive where a 47-year-old woman was threatening suicide. The woman was taken to a hospital.

-A caller in the 4100 block of Durham Court reported that she is being stalked and that her computer has been hacked, possibly by her ex-boyfriend.

-A caller in the 3000 block of Eagandale Place reported that his license plate was stolen from his car overnight.

-A caller in Alaska asked police to check on a woman in the 800 block of Curry Trail. The woman was threatening to kill herself and said she was considering driving off a bridge or using a gun that belongs to her father. Police contacted the woman, who said she was upset over a breakup with her boyfriend but wasn’t going to hurt herself.

-A caller in the 3000 block of Shields Drive reported that her neighbor’s dog was barking, and the neighbor told the dog to “bite her and get her.” The woman said she was concerned that the dog would obey its owner’s commands and bite her.

-A caller in the 500 block of Spruce Street reported seeing a car with three suspicious males in it, driving by a few times and stopping at open garages in the neighborhood. Police found the vehicle and cited a 19-year-old man for possession of drug paraphernalia.

-A caller in the 1000 block of McKee Street reported that there were two cars in the driveway of a nearby foreclosed house, and that the former owner’s son was inside hosting a party for about 10 people. Police broke up the party and cited a 17-year-old girl for underage drinking.

Aug. 6

-A caller in the 3800 block of Overlook Court reported a large party going on at a neighboring house where the parents were out of town. Police cited a 19-year-old man for underage drinking and took a 19-year-old woman to detox.

-A caller in the 3300 block of Coachman Road reported a domestic disturbance between her aunt and her aunt’s boyfriend. The caller said both had been drinking. Police arrested a 24-year-old man for domestic assault.

-A caller in the 3000 block of Eagandale Place reported a child being “roughed up” by a parent in the lobby of a hotel. The caller said the father was dragging the child out by his arm, and the child was screaming. Police interviewed other witnesses, who said they saw the man drag the 5-year-old boy into a bathroom and could hear him beating the child. The child came out with a red face, crying, and the man quickly put the child, a woman and two smaller children into a van and left. Police asked West St. Paul authorities to check on the child’s welfare.

-Police cited a 43-year-old man in the 1600 block of Ashbury Place for burning grass, leaves and a roll of carpet in his back yard.

-The Holiday station in the 3600 block of Pilot Knob Road reported a $50.24 gasoline drive-off. The female driver told the clerk that someone else inside the store would pay for the gas, and drove away.

-Police made a traffic stop and arrested a 45-year-old man in the 900 block of Blue Gentian Road on an outstanding warrant from Wright County.

-A caller at a store in the 1200 block of Town Centre Drive reported a small dog left in a truck outside the store. The caller said the dog had spent close to an hour in the car with no water. The car’s window was lowered about 2 inches and the car was unlocked; the dog was removed and given water. A thermometer showed the inside temperature of the car at 116 degrees. The dog’s owner was cited.

-A caller in the 3500 block of Lexington Avenue reported helping a man in the apartment complex who appeared to be drunk. She said the man was a “frequent visitor” to detox and wanted police to check on his welfare. Police transported a 55-year-old man to detox after he blew .351 on a preliminary breath test.

-Employees of a store in the 1200 block of Town Centre Drive reported that they had detained a 52-year-old man for trying to steal a purse. Police found that the man had multiple outstanding warrants  and arrested him.
