October 29

A caller in the 3800 block of Ballantrae Road reported a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. The man told police the argument was verbal, not physical, and went to his brother’s home for the night.

An employee of Holiday Inn Express in the 1900 block of Rahncliff Court reported a man throwing things in the hotel’s lobby. Police found the man at a nearby store and arrested him.

A caller in the 4100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue reported that someone broke a window out of a car and stole a purse.

A caller in the 3900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue reported that someone broke a window on a car. Nothing was reported missing.

A caller in the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue reported that someone smashed a window in a car and took an empty canvas laptop bag; the laptop was left behind.

A caller in the 3200 block of Dodd Lane reported overhearing a domestic dispute in which someone yelled, “Get out of my house!” Police contacted a woman at the address and she said she wasn’t hurt, but told them to “hurry, before he comes back.” Police tracked down the suspect and arrested a man for fifth-degree domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call.

A caller in the 4000 block of Vermont Avenue reported that someone broke a window on a vehicle overnight and took a billfold, which contained a debit card, a credit card, a health insurance card and the owner’s driver’s license.

A caller in the 3200 block of Coachman Road reported that her “on and off again boyfriend” had taken her car keys and driven the car away overnight. The woman called back and told her that the suspect had called her from the Hennepin County Jail, and told her that the vehicle was parked in Minneapolis.

A caller in the 500 block of Autumn Oaks Court reported that a package left on her front porch by United Parcel Service was stolen.

Police responded to a hit-and-run accident in the 1200 block of Promenade Place. A witness told police that the suspect hit another car, then parked elsewhere in the lot and went inside a store. Police found the female suspect, who said she hadn’t left a note and wasn’t going to report the accident. A citation is pending.

A caller in the 1900 block of Jan Echo Trail reported that he had been “wrestling” with people at a party at his house the night before and was losing to another man. He said he had been too embarrassed to call earlier. Police determined that nobody was injured and no crime had been committed.

A caller in the 1000 block of Ticonderoga Trail reported that someone smashed a window on a vehicle and stole a laptop computer and an external hard drive.

An employee of Cub Foods in the 1900 block of Cliff Lake Road reported a shoplifter in custody. The juvenile suspect was cited for theft.

The Holiday station in the 3000 block of Holiday Lane reported a $52.71 gasoline drive-off.

Police stopped a motorist at Promenade Avenue and Yankee Doodle Road  and cited the driver for driving with a suspended license. The car was towed.

October 30

Police stopped a motorist at Cliff Road and Lake Park Drive and cited the driver for fourth-degree DWI. The suspect’s brother drove the car home.

A caller in the 4600 block of Rahncliff Road reported a possible domestic dispute between a man and a woman. Both were taken to detox.

A caller in the 1900 block of Rahncliff Court reported a large fight in the parking lot, mostly among females. One woman was taken to detox.

An employee of the Sowles Co. reported that someone stole between 150 and 200 gallons of fuel overnight from three trucks.

A caller in the 1800 block of Trailway Drive reported two men in the woods, looking into windows of an apartment building. Police searched a nearby wooded area but found nobody.

A caller in the 4600 block of Parkridge Drive reported that someone threw eggs at his home and car overnight. The victim said an egg carton was left behind, but damage was limited to the cost of a car wash.

A caller in the 1200 block of Forest Ridge Trail reported that the mother of her boyfriend’s child was harassing her, texting her that she was outside her home. Police advised the individuals to “keep it civil” and set up times and dates for visitation of the children involved.

A caller reported that someone broke into a storage facility in the 4000 block of Old Sibley Memorial Highway and stole an ice auger, a shop vacuum, an outboard motor, a compound bow, a tackle box, an outdoor lantern, jack stands and a pair of boots.

Police stopped a motorist at Denmark Avenue and Yankee Doodle Road and cited two people for theft.

A caller in the 2200 block of James Court reported that someone called him and told him he won some money, and he needed to go to Walmart to claim it.

A caller in the 1900 block of Gold Trail reported two people fighting. Police broke up the fight.

October 31

An employee of Janecky Plumbing in the 4800 block of Biscayne Avenue reported that someone stole a trailer from the company’s parking lot.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at Dodd Road and Wescott Road. No injuries were reported, but one car was towed.

Police responded to an accident at Lexington Avenue and Yankee Doodle Road in which a Smart Car hit a deer. The deer had to be destroyed.

A caller in the 3300 block of Donald Avenue reported that someone tried to break into her home overnight. A window screen was removed and the window partly opened. Police swabbed the window screen for DNA.

An employee of Everest Institute in the 1000 block of Blue Gentian Road reported that someone stole three laptop computers. The employee said the suspect might be a former cleaner, and that an office door was found pried open.

Police responded to a report of a woman trying to walk across Cliff Road over Cedar Avenue, holding onto the fence. The woman was a recovering alcoholic who said she had lapsed the night before, was upset with herself and said she was going to jump off the bridge, but “chickened out.” She was taken to a hospital.

Police responded to an accident at Interstate 35E and Pilot Knob Road in which one car ran into the back of another. No injuries were reported.

A security guard at a business in the 1300 block of Corporate Center Drive reported that a woman had walked in and said, “Someone here is going to die or I’m going to die – I don’t care which,” then asked for advice on how to kill herself. Employees tried to talk to her, but she was “hostile” and drove away from the building. Police in Edina were asked to check on her welfare.

A caller in the 1500 block of Thomas Lake Pointe Road reported that someone broke into three coin machines at a car wash. The suspect left behind the tool used to break into the machines.

A caller in the 3500 block of Wescott Woodlands reported that someone toilet-papered a home overnight, dumped sandbags in the yard and moved landscaping rocks. The caller said the home had been toilet-papered three times over the summer.

A caller at Diamond Drive and Quartz Lane reported that a 9-year-old girl and some friends were approached by two boys, one holding a knife and one holding a gun. The girl said one of the boys, whom she recognized as a seventh-grader at her school, threatened to “find them and kill them.” Police contacted the boy’s mother.

An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Seneca Road reported a man and his son were fighting in the parking lot, and possibly broke a window on a customer’s car. The son was seen throwing a hatchet in the parking lot.

A caller at Denmark Avenue and Yankee Doodle Road reported a car with two men inside driving erratically, with one man drinking from a can of beer. Police cited the passenger for violating the open bottle law.

Police stopped a motorist at Interstate 35E and Yankee Doodle Road and cited the driver for giving false information to a police officer. The man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Goodhue County.

The Holiday station in the 1500 block of Cliff Road reported a $32.74 gasoline drive-off.
