Eagan Police Find Marijuana in Arrested Man's Car Trunk

Police say that after they arrested Andrew Paul Scrudato on an outstanding warrant, they found more than 48 grams of marijuana in his car's trunk.

 

A Burnsville man has been charged with drug possession after discovered 48 grams of marijuana in his car trunk while he was parked at an Eagan gas station.

Andrew Paul Scrudato, 21, is charged with fifth-degree possession of marijuana, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a gas station in the 1500 block of Cliff Road just before 7 p.m. June 30 on a driving complaint.

When they arrived, they found Scrudato and learned that he was being sought on an outstanding warrant. He was arrested, and because the passenger in his car was drunk and unable to drive, the car was impounded, according to the complaint.

When police searched the car, they found a backpack in the trunk containing three bags of marijuana. The total amoung of marijuana in the bags was 48.02 grams.

Scrudato is free on his promise to make all future court appearances. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled Nov. 20 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
