Head Basketball Coach Virgin on Paid Leave

School District 196 placed longtime coach, teacher on paid leave while conducting an investigation.

The boys basketball team has an interim coach after Kurt Virgin was placed on paid leave late last month due to an investigation within the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public School District.

“(Virgin) was placed on paid leave on Nov. 21 due to a concern that the district became aware of,” said Tony Taschner, communications specialist. “The district is investigating the concern.”

Virgin has been the coach for the last 21 years. He is the schools’
physical education teacher, the head coach for boys soccer and drivers' education supervisor. Virgin has worked in District 196 since 1980 and at Eagan High School since 1990.

Tonight, Friday, Dec. 9, under the direction of former junior varsity coach Mike Sullivan the team faced North High School.
