One Challenger, Three Incumbents to Run for School Board

Craig Angrimson, of Apple Valley, is the lone challenger in the upcoming race for the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School Board.

Filing for the upcoming school board race ended on Tuesday and from the looks of it the November election should be a sleepy affair: Only one person challenged the three incumbents up for re-election this year.

Sitting board members Art Coulson of Apple Valley, Gary Huusko of Eagan and Mike Roseen of Apple Valley all filed to go out for re-election. They will be joined by challenger Craig Angrimson of Apple Valley.

The relative dearth of competition for the upcoming election could be seen as a reflection of the board's comfortable standing in the community. According to a survey recently commission by the district, 85 percent said of those polled trusted the school board to act in the interest of children. Only 12 percent disagreed. About 73 percent rated the board's performance as good or better (10 percent said the board's performance was "excellent"), 18 percent rated the board as fair and only 3 percent judged the board to be a poor representative of the district.
