Sports Roundup: Eagan Netters Begin Postseason
Wildcats girls tennis team opens sectional play on Tuesday.
With several Eagan athletic squads still jockeying for post-season positioning, the Wildcats girls tennis team is already commencing its playoff push.
Girls Tennis
After a 14-3 regular season, the Eagan girls tennis team earned the No. 2 seed for the Section 3AA Tournament as the Wildcats open the post-season with a home match versus No. 15 Bloomington Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A win over the Eagles would advance Eagan to a quarterfinal matchup against either No. 10 Burnsville or No. 7 South St. Paul on Thursday. The semifinals and finals are slated to take place on Oct. 11 and 13 at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville.

A 2-0 defeat of host Farmington in a non-conference matchup on Thursday improved the third-ranked Eagan girls soccer team to 11-2-1 overall with two games remaining in the regular season.
The Wildcats, at 4-1-2 in South Suburban Conference play, are 1 1/2 games off the lead pace of top-ranked Lakeville North and play at Apple Valley on Tuesday before hosting Rosemount in the final pre-playoff matchup on Thursday.
Marissa Ganske leads Eagan with 11 points on seven goals and four assists, while goalkeeper Kristen Knutson second in the metro with a .955 save percentage this autumn.
Volleyball
The fourth-ranked Eagan volleyball team improved to 14-3 this fall with a four-game match victory against East Ridge in Woodbury on Sept. 29. Individual statistics were not made available.
Girls Swimming and Diving
The Eagan girls swimming and diving team lost 97-86 to Eastview on Sept. 29. Individual statistics were not made available.
