Football Friday: Wayzata vs. Eagan

Wayzata (1-0, 0-0 Lake Conference) vs. Eagan (0-1, 0-1 South Suburban Conference).

PLAYMAKERS

-- Antonio Ford (Wayzata – running back)

Antonio averaged 8.1 yards on 13 carries to pace the Trojans with 105 yards rushing in last week’s 47-20 win at Prior Lake.

-- Ryan Poppitz (Wayzata - linebacker)

The senior had nine tackles, including five solos in a week one win. He also had two sacks.

-- Drew Bauer (Eagan - quarterback)

In addition to going 10 of 22 through the air for 134 yards, Drew was the team’s leading rusher against Lakeville South with 72 yards on 16 carries. He also punts.

-- Alex Mangan (Eagan – linebacker)

Alex was second on the team with eight tackles, including six solos in last week’s loss at Lakeville South. He also recovered a fumble to set up Eagan’s second touchdown and broke up a pass.  

TROJANS WIN IF...

They establish their running game to keep the Eagan defense off balance and continue to effectively mix in a pass. The Trojans ran for 215 yards in week one and threw for 177 more, including a 70-yarder. Defensively, the need to keep Bauer in the pocket.

WILDCATS WIN IF...

They are more consistent in week two. The offense must reduce its number of short drives and control the clock against the state’s top-ranked team. The defensive line cannot get pushed around by the Trojans linemen.
